Playing with Wooden Toys

Get help for your
child... and make it PLAY.

Play Therapy is a relatively unknown approach to children's wellbeing and many struggle to believe it actually works! We have all been trained in the specific skill set that makes us able to reach children on a different level, to help them process, heal and thrive.

You can feel comfortable with us knowing that we have your child’s best interest at the heart of our approach. We’re proudly neurodivergent affirming and have a base of trauma informed care.

We are passionate about what we do and we know that play is the way.

Our story

Renae started Play Therapy South Australia (PTSA) in January of 2018 when it was just herself and a playroom! She fell in love with Play Therapy straight away and found it was a breath of fresh air after being a Kindergarten Director and teacher for 5 years. Renae completed her Masters in Play Therapy and couldn't wait to help as many children as she could!

Fast forward to 2023 and PTSA is the longest running and largest Play Therapy Practice in SA. We have 4 clinics, 6 playrooms, 9 Play Therapists and 1 Art Therapist helping over 100 kids per week! The PTSA team are a wonderful group of passionate therapists, striving to make kids lives better one session at a time.

What Past Parents and Carers say...

"My daughter started with PTSA due to Selective Mutism, she wouldn’t talk at school, yet we couldn’t stop her talking at home. Throughout the sessions she became more confident, she took chances and finally made a friend she could speak to. What more could a parent want!"

Loren, mother of 4

“As foster parents, our children came to us with a history of trauma. They were used to playing out scenes of their past but we didn't know how to help them make sense of it. That’s where Play Therapy came in. In a short time the kids felt better, their behaviour was better, and everything became calmer at home. We of course still have bad days but we know the kids are thriving. We feel good knowing that the kids feel safe to talk or play out anything they need to process in the playroom.”

Mill & Mandy, foster parents of 2

“I was not so sure what to expect from Play Therapy, but it was recommended by a friend. My daughter is autistic and I didn’t want anyone to change her. Play Therapy made her feel like the most amazing person ever (which she is). The therapist just let her be her and knowing someone saw how fantastic she is, that also really helped me!”
